Are You Part of the Answerbag Buzz?

Hi all,

We wanted to let you know about a few recent fixes. First, we've removed the expert debate content and cleaned up a number of the duplicate questions these had created. All of your responses to the debates remain, but the expert answers have been removed.

Here's what we did:
—For questions where there was no existing equivalent question from the community, we have created a new question and moved your answers there.
—For questions where there was a duplicate question from the community, we have merged the two questions.
—Poll data has been added to questions so that none of this information would be lost.

More importantly, we've also made a fun upgrade to the Answerbag Buzz feature. This is a feature—many of you may have noticed it in the lower right rail of the question page—that shows you conversation related to the question you're on.

Now, you can see the latest activity on related questions, including answers and comments. The avatars shown at the bottom of the pop-up modal also show you who's taking part in the discussion. Hover over an avatar to see the user's name, or click through to their profile.

Note that the Buzz module doesn't show on all questions (it depends how much buzz there is).

Take a look below, and try it out yourself. Here's a question to start on: When is the White House easter egg roll?

...Being able to see who's talking about what? Definitely something to buzz about.

Enjoy!

Homepage Improvement: Have We Got a Modal for You

Hi all,

I wanted to let you know about some changes we've made to streamline the home page.

First, we've streamlined the navigation bar at the top by removing several tabs, including the Topics, Polls and Debates tabs. Note that you can still access polls and debates by clicking on the headers in the modules at the top of the page.

Additionally, to make Happening Now easier to read, we no longer show the category a question was posted in.

But more importantly, we've made a change to usernames that we hope you'll like. Now, when you click on a username, a modal window pops up. This lets you quickly get a sense of who the user is without leaving the page. Take a look:

Now, with one click, you can easily see the user's level and points, as well as some of their recent activity. You can also add them as a friend, send them a message or view their full profile with one click.

To close the modal, simply click the X in the upper right-hand corner, or click anywhere on the page outside the modal. Note that this change only affects the home page at the time being, so if you click on a username on any other page, you'll be taken straight to their profile as usual.

We hope this will make it easier to meet new people and explore new questions and answers!

Cheers,
Rachel & the Answerbag Team
