Instructions

Students

  • Step 1:
If you are a student, you can probably get free medical advice from the clinic on your campus. Ask your resident adviser or someone who works at an information desk. Information regarding medical clinics is usually posted on university websites.

Walgreen's

  • Step 1:
Walgreen's recently instituted a no-cost clinic for those who have recently become uninsured during the recession. Advice and screening for many diseases are free, although it is required that you show proof of unemployment. Treatment options for your illness vary, but you can expect to pay approximately $60 if you need further treatment. More than 300 Walgreen's locations currently offer this service.

Planned Parenthood

  • Step 1:
Although the name is synonymous with sexual health, Planned Parenthood's nurses and doctors can provide free or low-cost advice on a variety of issues in addition to reproductive health and sexually transmitted diseases.

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

  • Step 1:
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services provides federally funded care for those unable to pay for their own health care. In addition to free advice nurses, they also offer free or low-cost check-ups, care after you become ill, dental care and full prenatal care. Visit their website to find your closest office.
