Instructions

Balancing Life

  • Step 1:
One of the primary causes of stress is having too much going on in your life. Juggling work, family and other obligations can be overwhelming. Look at your schedule: Do you set aside time for yourself? You can also lower your stress levels by maintaining a circle of friends. Having a support system can improve your emotional health. Your friends also can help you put your stress into perspective.

Exercise

  • Step 1:
Exercise is a great way to manage stress and anxiety. But you don't have to join a gym. A daily walk can keep you in shape. Other activities, like yoga or pilates, are also good exercises for managing stress and anxiety.

Relaxation Skills

  • Step 1:
Relaxation exercises are also helpful in dealing with stress. Meditation can help you focus your mind and your being. When you are feeling stressed, try taking a deep breath and holding it for five seconds. Exhale slowly, letting your breath out for five more seconds. Continue for a few more repetitions, and you will begin to notice tension draining from your body.
