Instructions

Engagement

  • Step 1:
Once the engagement has been announced, the mother of the groom should reach out to the bride's parents. This might be as simple as a celebratory phone call or a handwritten note. Arrangements can also be made to get together for drinks and/or dinner at their home, or a nice restaurant.

Cooperation

  • Step 1:
The groom's mother should be receptive and accepting of any requests made by the bride-to-be. It would also be a warm gesture for her to check in periodically with the bride-to-be or her mother to see if there is any way she can be of assistance.

Wedding Preparations

  • Step 1:
The groom's mother will be expected to provide two guest lists, one for the bridal shower and another for the wedding ceremony. She will also be responsible for lodging reservations for any out-of-town guests invited by the groom's family.

Rehearsal Dinner

  • Step 1:
The groom's parents are responsible for planning and hosting the rehearsal dinner. This includes the wedding party, close family members, spouses or significant others of those participating, and parents of children in the wedding.

Wedding Ceremony

  • Step 1:
The mother of the groom is expected to participate in the receiving line at the wedding reception, greeting guests, and introducing her friends and family to the bride and her family. She will also dance with her son during the mother/son dance.
