InstructionsProject Management TutorialsStep 1: Managers may want to learn how to effectively manage projects. This may include time management and budgeting. Scheduling tutorials are available through Microsoft Project training. Tutorials are available for managers and others who want to learn how to effectively use this software to help manage their projects. The training modules are no longer than 45 minutes; therefore, if time is an issue, managers can easily fit these modules into a busy schedule.
Managers who will be responsible for budgets may want to take Microsoft Excel training modules. Again, these short modules are excellent resources to learn Excel, which is a valuable resource for managers. As with Project, these modules can be taken in under an hour.
Self-Paced TrainingStep 1: Self-paced management training tutorials are available for a fee through companies such as StaffKit. After registering and paying the fee, users have 12-month access to the course. There is no required software and students can take the training at their own pace. For example, the business management eLearning modules help managers learn how to manage projects, set goals and objectives, learn about performance and modeling, and also learn how to reduce stress in the workplace.
Another option for self-paced eLearning tutorials is Webucator. It offers self-paced modules online for a fee and the courses are sold as a series. Participants have access to the training in the series they purchased for one year.
Video-Based TutorialsStep 1: Managers are often responsible for managing content, and video-based training tutorials are available that teach content management. Content management systems such as Moodle or Sharepoint are often used by managers especially if they have remote teams. Membership sites such as Lynda.com provide hundreds of tutorials on content management. This site also provides free training tutorials. Keep in mind that joining as a member allows the participant to take the exercises that accompany the tutorial.
YouTube is also an excellent resource for management training. There are short, video-based tutorials available that review leadership skills, motivating people and managing the human resources of a company. YouTube tutorials are particularly helpful for managers who want tips and tricks on specific content.
