    Civil engineer interns are responsibile for some aspects of the design process, including drafing new designs and modifying current designs assigned by the civil engineers they report to.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Step 1:
    Civil engineer interns also handle less complicated tasks such as filing and organization of designs manually and electronically. This gives the interns experience in engineering procedures and filing systems.

Educational Responsibilities

  • Step 1:
    If civil engineer interns work before graduating, they may be required to document their internship for credits toward a civil engineering degree, or because the school requires documentation of internships.

Average Salaries

  • Step 1:
    According to Indeed.com, the average salary for a civil engineer intern before graduating is $35,000 a year, and $59,000 a year for an intern with a bachelor's degree.
