How to Use a PCMCIA Card Stand Alone

Instructions

  • Step 1:
    Attach the USB cable (or other connector cable) to the external PCMCIA card reader device.
  • Step 2:
    Plug the other end of the cable into the computer or laptop. Allow the operating system to locate the drivers for the USB ports. Depending on the device, the operating system may also find and install driver for the external PCMCIA card reader device.
  • Step 3:
    Insert the installation CD into the CD/DVD drive. (Note: Depending on the model of the hardware, an installation disc may not be necessary.)
  • Step 4:
    Click "OK" to install the software.
  • Step 5:
    Verify the installation location. Click "Browse" and navigate to a new folder to change the installation location.
  • Step 6:
    Click "Finish" after the progress bar has completed and installation has concluded.
  • Step 7:
    Test the external PCMCIA card reader device by inserting a PCMCIA card. If the card registers on the operating system, the card reader is installed properly.
