Signing Up and Following the Rules

  • Step 1:
    Signing up for Yahoo! Answers is simply a matter of filling out some information. It is suggested that you fill out the profile as completely as possible to get more exposure. An incomplete profile will not get seen nearly as much as one with a great avatar or picture. Keep this in mind, and answer every question when signing up. Registration is free.
  • Step 2:
    The only thing you really must be careful of is that you do not spam the site. Spam will get you nowhere, and Yahoo! Answers has rules against it. If you break this rule, Yahoo! Answers will remove you from posting.
  • Step 3:
    Surf around on Yahoo! Answers and get to know how it works. Learn how to get to the questions that have been answered, and the ones that are archived. The unanswered questions are the ones that are the real gold mine for you.

Using Yahoo! Answers to Get Read

  • Step 1:
    Now that you are a bit familiar with the site, it is time to use the power of the site. Find an article that you wish to promote on Yahoo! Answers.
  • Step 2:
    Once you know which article you want to promote, search Yahoo! Answers for questions that your article answers. You may find several questions that your article answers.
  • Step 3:
    Take one of the questions and give a brief answer from your article or from your own knowledge. Then follow up the answer with a line that states "For more information on this topic check out this great article" and post your link.
  • Step 4:
    Know that this is not considered spamming as long as your link is truly on topic. You can get a ton of traffic off of this over time. My articles are getting more traffic from Yahoo! Answers than from any single social networking site out there. This is a great resource.
  • Step 5:
    Finally, be active in the Yahoo! Answers site and answer other questions too. Maybe even ask a few questions. The more active you are, the more people will begin to look for your answers and your articles.

  • Be social on the site.
  • Be consistent and helpful.
  • Write great articles and you will get repeat readers.
  • Do not spam answers with no bearing on the question you are answering.
