How to Troubleshoot a Nintendo GameCube

  • Step 1:
Determine if the problem is with a particular game or with the console itself. Try playing more than one game to see if the problems only happen when one game is being played. If there are lines on your television screen, the problem could be with your cable connection or television.
  • Step 2:
Go to Nintendo's official support Web site (see Resources). This site will be your best tool for troubleshooting your GameCube.
  • Step 3:
Click on the "Troubleshooting" option. Choose from the category that best describes your problems, such as error messages and accessory, disc, power, sound and video problems.
  • Step 4:
Click on the "Error Messages" option at the top of the screen under the "Commonly Used Troubleshooting Help" heading. You can choose from different error messages and then follow the given steps for troubleshooting. If those steps don't solve your issues, you'll be advised to have repairs done on your console.
  • Step 5:
Click on "Repair Options" at the end of the troubleshooting steps. Read the chart to determine the number you should call and which part of the GameCube needs repairs.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use the GameCube forum at Tech Forums (see Resources) before you send in your console for repairs or if your problem can't be found on Nintendo's support site.
