Instructions

Things You’ll Need:

  • Food
  • Glass of water (8 ounces)
  • Step 1:
    Eat a healthy meal. Taking iron pills on an empty stomach can cause nausea and vomiting.
  • Step 2:
    Fill your glass with water. You can use bottled water if you prefer. If you find that the iron pills upset your stomach, try taking them with orange juice.
  • Step 3:
    Take a drink of water and hold it in your mouth. Place the iron pill in your mouth and swallow. Swallow the pill whole for maximum absorption.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can take your iron pill at any time during the day.
  • You should only take iron pills while pregnant if your doctor advises you to do so.Iron pills can cause constipation.
