How to Remove Yellow From Gray Hair
Friday, July 10, 2009
InstructionsThings You’ll Need:- Purple-based hair color toner
- Hair color developer
- Hair color bowl
- Hair color brush
- Latex gloves
Step 1: Shampoo hair, but do not condition it. Conditioning hair will seal the cuticle, and it is important to open your hair cuticle with the shampoo before adding the hair color toner.Step 2: Towel dry the hair so that it is damp but not dripping wet.Step 3: Mix equal parts of the hair color toner and hair color developer in the bowl.Step 4: Stir the mixture together with the brush so that it is a smooth consistency and will not drip off of the hair.Step 5: Put on the gloves.Step 6: Use the brush and your covered hands to apply the hair color toner to the hair. If there is a specific area that it is more yellow than the rest, apply the hair color toner there first.Step 7: Allow the hair color to sit for 10 to 20 minutes depending on how yellow the gray hair is. Do not leave the color on the hair any longer than this. Gray hair is incredibly porous and will absorb the tone quickly. Continue to watch it, and use your covered hands to observe how the color is changing.Step 8: Rinse the hair color toner from your hair, then condition it.
