How to Make a Pet Headstone

Things You’ll Need:

  • Tiles
  • Safety goggles
  • Tile cutter
  • Tile glue
  • Something to place tile on
  • Step 1:
    Go to your local hardware store and purchase the supplies. You can choose what kind of surface on which you'd like to place the mosaics. Pick something sturdy that can withstand all sorts of weather, such as a small slab of concrete or wood.
  • Step 2:
    Think about a design you want to make with your mosaic. It can be concrete or abstract, whichever you choose. Think about different colors that represent your pet or different things that it liked to do during its lifetime.
  • Step 3:
    Put on safety goggles and head outside or into a toolshed and begin breaking your tile. You can do this by throwing it against the wall or using a tile cutter.
  • Step 4:
    Assemble your broken tile pieces on the surface you have chosen. When you're happy with the design, secure it with tile glue.
  • Step 5:
    Choose embellishments for your headstone that are unique to your pet. You may want to purchase letters from the craft store to glue onto the surface; place the pet's picture on the mosaic and then cover it with plastic; or purchase an engraved plaque from a trophy and engraving store to glue on the mosaic.
  • Step 6:
    Place the mosaic in your yard or place of your pet's burial. Dig about 3 inches deep and place your work of art in the ground, packing the dirt in beside it.
