Instructions

Things You’ll Need:

  • Rubber snakes
  • Small rubber bands
  • Tunic dress
  • Gold braid rope
  • Step 1:
Transform your hair into snakes. Make numerous braids in your hair. Braid all of your hair if you wish, but you only need to braid about one third of your hair, sprinkling the braids throughout. Using clear rubber bands, or black bands if your hair is dark, secure the snakes. Wrap the end of the snake and the hair together and hold it in place with the rubber band.
  • Step 2:
Wear a long tunic style dress as the base of your costume. If you don’t have such a dress, create one by taking 10 feet of white fabric, folding it in half lengthwise and cutting a hole for the head. Sew the sides closed from under the arm to the thigh, and you have an instant tunic.
  • Step 3:
Tie a gold braid around your body beneath the bust, make an X across the stomach, and wrap it around the waist. This will give the dress the characteristics of ancient Greece.
  • Step 4:
Apply makeup. Use your normal special occasion makeup to enhance your beauty, but add a bit of a ghostly effect with dark under eyes and pale powder. Wear bright lipstick and eye shadow.

Tips & Warnings

  • An optional makeup idea is to make the face very scary.
  • You can use almost any evening gown in your closet for your Medusa costume.
