Instructions

Things You’ll Need:

  • Clear nail polish
  • White nail polish pen
  • Fingernail clippers
  • Nail file
  • Lotion
  • Colored nail polish (optional)
  • Nail growth nail polish (optional)
  • Step 1:
    Start by cleaning your nails. Apply lotion to soften the cuticles and trim the cuticles back. Push the remaining cuticle back with a nail file and use it to clean underneath your nails. Trim them, and file them so they are smooth. Don't worry about getting them to short.
  • Step 2:
    Use a French manicure pen to apply white nail polish to the ends of your nails. Even if your nails aren't grown out enough to see the white part it will still work. Just draw a strip the thickness you want on the end of each nail. This will create the illusion that your nails have grown out to the white part, making them look longer.
  • Step 3:
    Apply clear nail polish over top to make them more natural looking. Your nails will instantly look longer. If you don't want to use the French manicure trick, try painting them a solid color. Dark colors work the best for creating the illusion of length, and even if it doesn't seem to be helping, nail polish usually looks better on shorter nails anyway.
  • Step 4:
    Try clear nail polish designed to make your nails grow faster if you don't want to paint them. Clean your nails if you haven't already, and apply a thick coat after filing them. Make sure not to cut or chew your nails, and you should see results within a few days. Enjoy your new look.
