Everything Photoshop

  • Step 1:
AdobeLearn about Adobe. Because Adobe is the creator of Photoshop, a lot of helpful information is available on its website. If you are contemplating whether or not Photoshop is the right software for you, check out some of the features it offers and compare the two versions. Adobe offers a basic Adobe Photoshop CS4 and a premium Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended. Also, if you are considering purchasing more than just Photoshop, check out some of the software bundles that Adobe offers. Often, if you purchase software bundles you save more money than by buying each piece of software individually.
  • Step 2:
Visit specialized Photoshop websites. Many websites have tutorials from Photoshop pros. Many of these websites offer Photoshop basic sections, as well as Photoshop advanced sections. This will help you to learn more, no matter what your skill level is. If you need to find out how to do a specific edit or effect, these websites often offer complete walk-throughs and tutorials. One popular website to visit is Tutorial9.net. See the link for it in the resources section at the bottom of this article.
  • Step 3:
Visit design blogs. Design blogs feature a variety of content for website designers and graphic editors. Often they have their articles categorized by platform. For example, a design blog would have a section just for Photoshop articles. Design blogs often cover the most in-demand information on Photoshop as well as other design software. One popular blog for designers is SmashingMagazine.com, which features a variety of tips for designers along with up-to-date news information.
  • Step 4:
Check out Photoshop videos. By doing a basic YouTube search, you can find tons of information about Photoshop. Most commonly, there will be basic tutorials showing how to use Photoshop and explaining what the various commands do. There are also some advanced videos showing how to perform a particular Photoshop technique. Also, YouTube features many product reviews and unboxings. This allows you not only to know more about a product, but also see what to expect if you were to purchase the product itself.
  • Step 5:
Use eHow.com. This is a great website to learn more about anything and may be the biggest general tutorial website on the Internet. It is likely to have some useful how-tos for Adobe Photoshop. At eHow, find information on anything from how to make a scrapbook in Photoshop to how to use watercolor filters in Photoshop. For a list of eHow Photoshop articles, follow the eHow Photoshop help link at the end of the article.
  • Step 6:
There are a lot of books out that will teach you about Photoshop. These books feature anything from basic tutorials and getting started with Photoshop guides, to advanced professional photo editing techniques. You can find just about any book at Amazon.com. Some recommended books to look for are Layers by Matt Kloskowski and Photoshop CS4 Classroom in a Book by The Official Adobe Team.
