Instructions

Things You’ll Need:

  • Prescription for Percocet
  • Step 1:
Ask your doctor about your Percocet dosage and dosage schedule.
  • Step 2:
After you fill your prescription, examine your pills to become familiar with their size, shape and color. Percocet is shaped and colored differently depending on strength of tablets. For example, Percocet may come in 2.5 mg, 5 mg, 7.5 mg, 10 mg tablets or come combined with acetaminophen in 325 mg/2.5 mg strength, up to 650 mg/10 mg strength.
  • Step 3:
Memorize the shape of your Percocet pills according to strength of the tablets. For example, the 325 mg/2.5 mg combination Percocet and acetaminophen tablets are shaped like a football, while the 5 mg tablet of Percocet is round. The 325 mg/10 mg combination is a narrow oblong shape, while the 500 mg/7.5 mg combination strength is a narrow, long, oblong shape.
  • Step 4:
Look at the color of your Percocet pills. Depending on strength, the pills are given different colors. For example, the 325 mg/2.5 mg combination Percocet and acetaminophen pill is a pale pink color, while the 325 mg/5 mg combination is pale blue. The 650 mg/10 mg and 325 mg/10 mg are pale yellow, while the 325 mg/7.5 mg combination and 500 mg/7.5 mg are a tan or pale orange color.
  • Step 5:
Ask your doctor or pharmacist to provide you with a visual of your strength and dosage of Percocet whenever possible so you become familiar with your prescription.

Tips & Warnings

  • Avoid mixing your pills (if you have two or more prescriptions) until you become completely familiar with the appearance of your Percocet tablets.
  • Always take prescription drugs as instructed by your physician. Check your prescription at the pharmacy to ensure the correct strength, size, shape and mg dosage of your pills before taking.
