Instructions

Things You’ll Need:

  • TV
  • DVD recorder
  • RF cable
  • RCA cables
  • Step 1:
Determine what type of connection is needed based on the type of TV. If you have an older TV, an RF cable is likely all that's necessary. However, for newer TVs, as well as cable and satellite boxes, RCA cables will have to be included.
  • Step 2:
Connect the devices with the proper cables. For a TV with only an RF input, you would connect the RF cable from the RF input of the TV to the RF output of the DVD recorder. For everything else, plug the RCA cables into the inputs of the TV and into the outputs of the DVD recorder. Then connect the other RCA cables to the inputs of the DVD recorder and the outputs of the cable or satellite box.
  • Step 3:
Set the TV and DVD recorder to the proper channel. Many TVs will require you to tune your TV into a certain input, sometimes labeled "Video 1" and "Video 2." Then, the DVD recorder should be tuned into the appropriate input, which usually begins with an L. Once both devices have been tuned into the correct channel, you will be able to see the TV channels.
