How to Get Original XBox Games to Play on an XBox 360

Instructions

Things You’ll Need:

  • Backward compatibility list
  • Xbox 360 game console with hard drive
  • Xbox game disc
  • Step 1:
    Check the official Xbox backward compatibility game list. Only the Xbox games on the list will work with your Xbox 360.
  • Step 2:
    Turn on your Xbox 360.
  • Step 3:
    Install the latest Xbox backward compatibility system update. If you have an Xbox Live account, sign in to your account and the system will update automatically. If you do not have an Xbox Live account, you can download the system update to your computer, burn it to a CD or DVD and open it on your Xbox 360 or order a system update disc directly from Microsoft.
  • Step 4:
    Insert a compatible Xbox game disc into your Xbox 360 to begin playing.

Tips & Warnings

  • Only Xbox 360 systems with the hard drive accessory will be able to play original Xbox games.
