Instructions

  • Step 1:
Buy several maps including one of North Carolina and detailed maps of the following towns Statesville, Mooresville and Charlotte. These maps are available from most gas stations and include the locations of race shops in those areas.
  • Step 2:
Visit the Carrabus County Welcome Center in Kannapolis, North Carolina. The Visitors Center provides free maps for visitors that include all the major race shops in the nearby area. You’ll also find directions to the shops and information on race shops located outside the county.
  • Step 3:
Purchase a map from the Race Shops website. While the company doesn’t offer specialized tours, they have spent time and effort on building the ultimate map of race shops in North Carolina. This map includes information on smaller teams including those that only run in the Truck Series or Nationwide Series.
  • Step 4:
Take a tour of the area by booking a trip through Race Shop Tours. This company is the oldest provider of race shop tours in the area and have the seal of approval from some of the biggest teams in the sport. They offer tours of the northern part of the state and the southern part of the state.
  • Step 5:
Ask at one race shop for directions to other nearby shops. If you can find your way to one race shop, you can easily find your way to others. Most shops have directions available for visitors that direct them how to other shops.

Tips & Warnings

  • Take into account the time you’ll spend driving, stopping for breaks or getting stuck in traffic. You may think you can do a number of different shops in one day, but you never know when you might get stuck in a traffic jam.
  • Don’t automatically assume a race shop will be open because some do close for holidays, special events or lunch. Call the shop before you visit to make sure they’re still open.
