How to Embroider a Motorcycle Patch

Things You’ll Need:

  • Embroidery machine
  • Motorcycle design
  • Design file
  • Step 1:
    Purchase an embroidery or sewing-embroidery machine from a local fabric store. Most fabric stores also carry sewing and other types of machines.
  • Step 2:
    Create a motorcycle design on paper. Look through motorcycle and auto magazines to get ideas for the type of motorcycle you would like to embroider. Your embroidery machine will automatically create your embroidered motorcycle patch from a existing pattern you upload into the machine. But you first have to design it.
  • Step 3:
    Purchase a digitized embroidery design file for your computer. You will transfer your motorcycle patch design from your paper into your computer file. Edit the design and make appropriate changes. Make sure your finished project is to your liking. Your final design is embroidered onto your clothing by the machine.
  • Step 4:
    Load your finished motorcycle design file into your embroidery machine. Using an embroidery hoop, secure the area of the fabric where you would like the motorcycle patch embroidered. Place the fabric into the machine and start the embroidery process.
  • Step 5:
    Monitor the machine while it does the embroidering. The machine runs on its own. It doesn't need any help. But best not to leave the machine unattended. Stay around until your motorcycle patch is complete, to ensure a properly embroidered design.

  • If you are lucky, the store you buy your embroidery machine from will conduct training seminars on how to use your new machine. It never hurts to learn from the experts.
  • The Internet is full of websites giving away free design files. Look around before you spend money on a design. You might find exactly what you are looking for and it won't cost you a thing.
  • Don't be hasty. Take your time. Once your motorcycle design is created and the file is uploaded into your embroidery machine. Don't ruin your patch just because you are in a hurry. Make sure your file is uploaded properly and your fabric is secure.
  • Whether you create your own design file or download one from the internet, make sure your design file is compatible with your embroidery machine. Different machines use different formats.
