Instructions

Downloading Through a Cell Phone

  • Step 1:
    Power on your cell phone and allow it to boot up as normal.
  • Step 2:
    Open your phone's browser. If you are using a cell phone that is not a smart phone, your browser will most likely open directly to your carrier's mobile site.
  • Step 3:
    Scroll down to the "Downloads" menu. From there, scroll to where you see "Yahoo Instant Messenger."
  • Step 4:
    Select "Yahoo Instant Messenger" and select "Install." The program will then download onto your cell phone and install automatically.

Downloading Through a Smart Phone

  • Step 1:
    Power on your cell phone and allow it to boot up as normal.
  • Step 2:
    Open your cell phone's Internet browser. Wait for the browser to fully load before moving on to avoid potential complications.
  • Step 3:
    Type the following URL into the browser: "get.go.yahoo.com." After entering the URL, hit "Enter."
  • Step 4:
    After the Yahoo Mobile Web page loads, click "Get Yahoo Go Now" and follow any instructions that appear on your phone.
  • Step 5:
    Follow the instructions and click "Install." The program will then download directly to your phone and install itself, prompting you when it is completed.

Download From Computer Browser

  • Step 1:
    Open your Internet browser and go to the following URL: "mobile.yahoo.com."
  • Step 2:
    Enter your cell phone number, including area code, where prompted. Yahoo will then send you a text message.
  • Step 3:
    Follow the instructions in the text message and follow the link sent to your cell phone. The software will automatically download and install itself onto the phone.
