The Process

  • Step 1:
    Find a non-Latino man or woman you'd like to date, and ask them out. Libraries, coffee shops, bars, farmer's markets, and adult education classes are all great places to meet a variety of different people.
  • Step 2:
    Try mixed singles groups or online dating websites to increase your chances of finding a dating partner.
  • Step 3:
    Go out to dinner for a first date. This will give you an opportunity to talk and get to know each other. Find out beforehand what type of food your date likes, and pick a restaurant that is conducive to conversation.
  • Step 4:
    Take an interest in your date's culture and heritage, whatever it may be. Learn about the traditions and customs that are important to your partner.
  • Step 5:
    Teach your date about your own culture, and the traditions and customs that go along with it. Plan activities that allow you both to experience each other's cultures together.
  • Step 6:
    Introduce your date to family and friends when things start to get serious. Allow your family to form a friendship with your partner, and take steps to bond with your partner's family and friends as well. This will show your partner that you are not uncomfortable with her different heritage.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be positive, and remember that racial differences don't matter when two people care about each other.
  • Be accepting of the cultural differences that the two of you may have. Don't tease or judge your date for being different.
