  • Weight journal or diary
  • Starting weight
  • Calculating method
  • Step 1:
    Record your initial weight. Using a reliable bathroom weight scale, stand with your weight evenly distributed between both sides of the scale. To make sure the reading is as accurate as possible, try to weigh yourself with no clothing or accessories on your body. Once the scale has shown a steady number, write it down in your weight journal and record the date of the day your weight was taken.
  • Step 2:
    Create a schedule for "weight-taking" days. These will be the days that you will record your weight. Each recording should be taken at roughly the same time of day to prevent any discrepancies. It is important to follow your schedule as closely as possible for maximum accuracy.
  • Step 3:
    Record your final weight. After a pre-determined amount of time has passed between your initial weight recording, take your new, final weight. Try to use the same scale you used for your first weight recording, and weigh yourself in the same fashion for accurate results.
  • Step 4:
    Use a calculating method to determine total weight loss. This method can be as simple as subtracting your initial and final weights, or using a calculator to determine the exact percentage of body fat lost, as well as other factors like muscle gained.   • Step 5:
    Record how you achieved your weight loss in your journal, and write down any vital statistics that played a factor, such as height and health status. A detailed weight loss journal can be motivational and beneficial to you as you lose weight, and may be helpful for you later should you need to take the journey again.
