How to Become an NHL Fan
Monday, May 05, 2008
InstructionsStep 1: Know the general rules of the game of hockey. It's important to note that the NHL does have rules that somewhat differ from those found in international play. Be sure to know all of the intricacies of the NHL and the rules used by the league.Step 2: Discover the best players in the NHL and which teams those players are currently on. Just like with any professional sports league, the NHL has those All-Star players that should be seen and enjoyed by everybody. Watching those players in action is a great way to become a fan of the NHL.Step 3: Watch NHL games on TV or over the Internet. Practically every NHL team will be featured on either national television as well as local sports stations throughout the regular season. You can also find games online during the year. In fact, Yahoo airs a couple of games for free every week during the season.Step 4: Buy an NHL video game. NHL video games are some of the highest rated sports titles on the market because of their fast and realistic game play. These games are also a great way for you to become acclimated with teams, players and rules of the game.Step 5: Participate in fantasy hockey leagues. By doing this, you will become more interested in players throughout the entire NHL. Thus, you'll pay more attention to the league in general. Anything, including the NHL, is more fun when you have something vested in the outcome.Step 6: Go to a live NHL game. Many critics of hockey complain that the game is “too boring.” Seeing an NHL game live and in person is far more exciting than watching the game on your TV. When you're at the game, you can appreciate just how athletic the players in the NHL truly are.
