How to Add a Yahoo! Chat Room to Your Favorites

Instructions

Things You’ll Need:

  • Computer with Internet connection
  • Latest version of Yahoo! Messenger
  • Yahoo! account

Add a Yahoo Chat Room to Your Favorites

  • Step 1:
    Download the latest version of Yahoo! Messenger by going to the home page (see the Resources section below).
  • Step 2:
    Launch the Yahoo! Messenger chat application. If you don't have an icon on your desktop, find the icon in your Applications folder.
  • Step 3:
    Enter your username and password and log in.
  • Step 4:
    Find a chat room you'd like to add to your Favorites list. You can find listings of chat rooms by accessing the Messenger menu. Choose the Yahoo! Chat menu and click on 'Join A Room.' You'll see listings of rooms in many different categories.
  • Step 5:
    Click the 'Chat' menu in the Messenger menu and select 'Favorite Rooms.'
  • Step 6:
    Hit 'Add Room' to add the room you are currently in, or choose 'Organize Favorites' to edit the list.

Join a Chat Room from Your Favorites

  • Step 1:
    Click the 'Chat' menu in the Messenger menu.
  • Step 2:
    Choose 'Favorite Rooms.'
  • Step 3:
    Find your desired room in the list and click it to join.

Tips & Warnings

  • Update your Favorites list on a regular basis. Rooms form and sometimes disappear periodically, so it helps to keep your list current.
  • You can change your privacy settings in Yahoo! Messenger. Go the Messenger menu and choose Privacy Options. You'll be a given a choice as to whether you want your online status to be visible to others.
  • Yahoo! Messenger has different clients for PC and MAC users. To access specific help for your platform, visit Yahoo! Messenger Help.
