Instructions

Over the Counter

  • Step 1:
Before visiting a dermatologist there are many over-the-counter products that may cure your skin problem. Products containing Benzoyl Peroxide and Salicylic Acid are best for healing acne.

Antibiotics

  • Step 1:
If over-the-counter products do not work, dermatologists may prescribe antibiotics to cure acne. This medication will kill the bacteria that causes acne, but this process may take up to six months.

Accutane

  • Step 1:
Accutane is another way a dermatologist may cure acne. This medication is the last step a dermatologist will take because it can cause harmful side effects.

Intralesional Corticosteroids

  • Step 1:
Cortisone shots are a common treatment for severe acne. Dermatologists will give these shots to not only cure acne, but treat acne scarring as well.

Blue Light Therapy

  • Step 1:
An up-and-coming treatment for acne is Blue Light Therapy. This light therapy is not a prescribed treatment yet, but the laser goes under the skin to kill and prevent the bacteria that causes acne.
