InstructionsSignificanceStep 1: Babylonians were the first to study the ancient science of astrology. The science of astrology incorporates the study of celestial bodies like stars and planets and their influence on humans. Capricorn's fall under the astrological or zodiacal symbol of the goat-fish, most often referred to as just the goat. This symbol for Capricorns is shaped as a goat head with a fish tail that looks like it is curling up.
HistoryStep 1: Mythology associated with Capricorn is the story of Amalthea of Greek origins. Amalthea was a goat and the foster-mother of the god Zeus. She was believed to have fed the infant Zeus milk or ambrosia and due to her tender care Zeus placed her in the heavens. This would be the constellation Capricornus found in the night sky. Capricorns are also associated with the god Saturn due to the linking between the constellation and the planet Saturn.
FeaturesStep 1: Personalities of Capricorns vary upon each individual born under this sign. Practical, hard working, disciplined and dependable are all trait features of the Capricorn personality. People born under the Capricorn zodiac are often those you can depend on to get things done. They respect authority and boundaries and are very well organized and methodical. Some other words used to describe the features of Capricorns are serious, competent, shrewd, self- oriented and steadfast. According to "The Little Giant Encyclopedia of The Zodiac" by The Diagram Group the physical traits of Capricorns are identifiable. These physical looks tend towards dark hair, dark eyes and prominent cheekbones, and also include a darker complexion. Science has not proven whether the zodiac has anything to do with physical appearance.
ConsiderationsStep 1: Capricorns tend to be very dependable loyal people, however they do have some personality traits that could be considered flaws. They can be grudging and miserly, as well as fatalistic. Pessimism seems to run rampant through those born under the goat-fish zodiac. They can also be tough, unyielding, methodical and stubborn. When these traits plus the feature traits are balanced out in a Capricorn's personality, a natural harmony ensues.
BenefitsStep 1: Capricorns share the zodiac sign with these famous Capricorns: Mel Gibson, Pat Benetar, Rod Stewart, Isaac Newtown and Joan of Arc.
