I'm considering a new video card in my AMD64 3000+ with 1GB RAM. I've got a Radeon 9600 now, but I don't think it's going to be good enough for the new FlightSim X. Any suggestions for good midrange value chipsets these days?

The 9600 won't cut it. Heck, I run a 9800pro and as far as I'm concerned FS 2002 could do with a better card, let alone X. But that's me and I don't buy into MS' idea of what they say is a minimum requirement to run their software. Sure, it'll run. Will it be enjoyable? Nope. Nothing more frustrating than your old (supposed to run) vid card, suddenly rendering that mountain in your flight path or having an fps so low that you've landed...then you've landed.
That said, if spending around 250-300 bucks is what you consider as mid range, then I'd opt for (being an ATI kinda guy) the X700 Pro with the RV410 chipset. It's avaliable in AGP, and has dvi/vga with s vid and I think it may even have HDTV out too, don't quote me on that.
It ought to do well in a gaming environment and given the specs of your box.

Edit: Dang..and I almost forgot, ATI has that trade up program, where you ship in your old with proof of purchase of your new ATI and they'll cut you a cheque for 50 bucks. Sweet.
