I found a cat two days ago that had been hit by a car. She is eating and drinking a little and she purrs when I pick her up, but she is not pooping. What should I do?

It is possible that the accident may have caused damage to her instestines or internal organs, like a blockage. If that is the case than you would have to take her in for surgery which can be very expensive. Other than that, it might be that she was starved previously. If she was then her stomach or pancreas or other organs may have started to shut down. If they have, there are prescription medicines that can help to give them a jump start. Give her another day or two. Her body might be using up more of the food she is consuming then usual because she was starving. If it doesn't start up and you can't afford to get her meds or sugery, then take her to a rescue foundation. Not a Pound or shelter! At pounds or shelters they will usually put the animal to sleep if it is sick or injured, or if no one claims or adopts it within a week or so. Rescue foundations nurse injured animals back to health and then adopt them out. Most do not put an animal to sleep unless there is nothing that can be done to end their suffering. www.felinerescue.org is a good one to check out. Good luck!
