In the days when coffee was 5 cents a cup at a lunch counter, how much did people leave for a tip?

    From my cousin, who lived through it: "In those days, making $50.00 a week was a fair salary. In 1951 you could get a plate lunch, meat- two vegetables, roll and butter for 25 cents. I think it included a small dessert and drink like coffee or ice tea. Tipping for the lunch was 10 or 15 cents, for a cup of coffee, a nickel."
