Our 3 lb. Chihuahua won't wear boots to go outside, but he REALLY needs to. Any ideas or other options?

I have a 4lb chihuahua who this morning only lasted 30seconds outside and wasn't even able to pee! It's -25degrees Celsius outside with snow. So I brought him back inside and decided to improvise.

Since his feet are less than an inch wide I have never been able to find booties to fit him. Instead I used one of those stretchy cotton gloves than you can buy everywhere for like a dollar and cut in between the fingers all the way to the cuff. His foot fits inside the finger hole and the remaining two strips of fabric I wrapped around his foot and then tied.

In the future I'm going to buy some waterproof fabric and lining and just make some! But the gloves are a good emergency substitute..

In the picture his looks pretty miserable since coming back inside freezing from his walk cut short, and now being subjected to socks.. lol But once we got outside and he realized what a difference it made he was much happier that he was able to do his business in peace! We even walked for a whole block before he called it quits :)

Thanks a lotor your answer. It is a great idea and I will give it a try. Your dog sure looks unhappy but I can understand why. He sure is cute tho.

thats a great idea I think I may try that for my chihuahua her names tootsie and shell be 1 in january. I take her out to go potty and she keeps lifting one foot and tries to avoid walking she just stands there with her sad face:( so hopefully this will help out with her going potty

What a GREAT idea! I can never find booties small enough to fit a foot under an inch! I will try this! Thank you!!
