Help answer this question below.

What do you think of this swine flu outbreak? Hysteria and fear mongering or is there reason for panic? I'm going to the Mayan in 4 days and so far it seems like mass hysteria caused by the media to me.

    I know this is after the fact, but I think the swine flu was caused by the media overhyping it. I would always get annoyed when I saw people wearing surgical masks, anyone with half a brain cell knows that this flu is waterborn, so wearing a mask and looking like a idiot is no help. This leads into another sort of mass hysteria I believe is happening in this country. People are so crazy about making every sanitzed and disinfected. People use hand sanitizer like there is no tomorrow like it will prevent them from getting sick at all. People don't realize that if you are exposed to some type of germ, virus or bacteria that your body knows how to kill it and you can become immune to the effects of it. Another thing is that people are always washing their hands. I understand this has to be done in the food industry or child care, but for people to wash their hands after touching every little thing is a waste of soap. Take a look at your hands, if they look clean then why wash them? You don't have to wash your hands everytime you go to the bathroom unless you have some STD or bacteria. I rarely ever wash my hands after using the bathroom and I've rarely ever been sick and there isn't anything wrong with me. You dont need hand sanitizer every minute of the day. You can't put yourself in a plastic bubble just because someone around you blew their nose.
