At some point, and I'm not exactly sure when, American Statesmen became politicians. The Utilitarian concepts, tempered by protections for minorities, were a brilliant part of the Framers' work. Somewhere along the line those Utilitarian concepts gave way to an avaricious grab for power and both the majority and the minorities have suffered. The perfect example of this lies in the current Congress. Despite the fact voters demonstrated nearly pure contempt at the voting booths this year, turned the House completely around and equalized the Senate, our trusted leader have seen fit to re-place in power the very same folks against whom the voters railed. To me that is one of the most blatant and egregious insults ever made to our government. Personally, I think term limits will send the message to our representatives more clearly than the voting booths.
