Check out wikipedia, or the Philadelphia Inquirer from this past winter. The average person will die if they consume 4-6 gallons of water at one time...that does not mean that if you're working in a hot sun and during the day drink 6 gallons of water you will die though...The reason excess water consumption would kill you is because as the water passes through your body, and you excrete it, excessive amounts of electrolytes would be lost. Additionally there would be an overtaxing of the lymph, liver, kidneys, and vascular system to accomodate all this water.
