16 in California and Minnesota, used to be 16 in IL - don't know if it has changed.

But, don't do it, unless you expect to live in your parents house for the rest of your life, and you want to work really really hard to become an assistant manager at Taco Bell as the pinnacle of your career...

If you work hard and do a good job getting through High School, your reward is going to a college away from home where you get TONS more freedom! If you drop out, you'll be trapped being told what to do for the rest of your life!
