The bible states honor thy father and mother. Suppose they are very evil, then should this still apply?

    If you believe in the bible and Christianity then you should certainly honour them, whatever their failings.

    Allow me to elucidate. A mother knew that her son was a killer, so turned him in to police. Being interviewed after this she explained that she had to do this for two reasons - first because she obeyed the law of the land, and second because she loved her son. Her love meant that she couldn't see him suffer day after day, wondering if this would be the day the police caught him, so she ended that suffering by turning him in.

    In the same way your parents might be evil, and you must take account of that, but you must still honour them as your parents, because their love gave your chance to be where you are now. Jesus said "Do not judge others, lest ye yourself be judged".

    • If she loved him that much, it might have been better to kill him herself. Assuming he wasn't an alpha male type, but rather someone who committed an isolated murder, better dead than Bubba's bitch.
