How can there possibly be so many catholic priest child molestations? How can the people who are apparently closest to god do such things?

Pfttt! Being a member of the clergy or of a church does not make one godly. Human history has proved that time and again. Most religion is a farce and there to make money for the greedy and powerful and to meet their own questionable needs.
