Why do people buy more lottery tickets when the prize is higher? Their chance of winning isn't any higher.

    Cos they get sucked in by the media and then they actually have even less chance of winning as everyone is doing the same thing, falling for the hype.

    • Publicity certainly prompts more people to buy tickets (that's why they design games to have big rollovers, e.g. MegaMillions). But nobody has less chance of winning when more tickets are sold - the odds are still exactly the same per entry.
