Taking time off is the better option. You can enter college at any time but it is only wise to do so when you KNOW what subject you want to study. Otherwise you will waste a lot of money studying and "finding yourself." In reality, bachelor graduates are offered a low wage. You can attend a three month trade school and be employed for more money than a college graduate. The best way to determine what you really want to do is by doing trying different jobs. This way you can tell if you are right for a position, what kind of work suits you, what you enjoy, etc. It is just trial and error. When you have some idea of what you want to do, only then you should consider university to study that subject.

As a youth partying is an awesome and cherished experience. But the real party is not at college. So, that is another reason it is better to take time off. It gives you time to actually enjoy yourself and explore life.

Besides that, after being in school for 12 years, it is just time for a break.
