Why is it so impossible to log onto the internet to "quickly check my email" without spending the next two hours doing useless stuff online?

    One of the answers would be "answerbag and sites like it". There are just too many damned useful, interesting, funny, thought provoking bits of information out there and much of it starts in your email; a quick link to a funny picture leads to dozens of others, a snippet of a news article leads to a trove of interesting information, that project update leads to slew of documentation and content to review, etc....

    • Yeah, that's true. I often spend ages on AB, because I check my email, and find links to AB in emails I receive from the site. Just checking on that one link leads to my reading answering lots more!
