PocketNut is as sure as a peanut

Yes, many species do indeed sleep, some fall asleep on one side of their body, whilst the other remains alert, a very handy survival strategy!

I have my tank lights connected to two separate timer switches set to switch on or off at different times so that they give a dimmer light towards nightfall, and likewise at sunrise.
All you need is an ordinary domestic timer switch, plug your light unit into it and set the time, easy.
