tipping pitches has to do with when a pitcher does something during his delivery that gives away or "tips" the hitter what pitch is coming..example, if the pitcher slows down his delivery it usually means its a breaking ball or change-up. There are lots of ways that a pitcher can tip his pitches. slower delivery, maybe a faster delivery for a little extra giddy-up on his fastball..even something as simple as taking a deep breath before throwing a certain pitch..hitters study film all the time to see if they can pick anything up for an added advantage
