    Several ways. Most common was gravity...the set was built on a slant and the car simply rolled down the "hill". The camera was set on a similar slant so on screen everything looks level.

    Another common way was a slit in the road. The vehicles were pulled along by a rail coming up from under the floor and connecting between the front wheels. The low camera angle hid these devices.

    Large vehicles like the Crablogger were controlled by a then state-of-the-art remote control mechanism. It was built for a promotional model of a bulldozer company, but somehow Gerry Andersen glommed onto it and his model makers made some very intriguing things with it.
