Why are speeding tickets so expensive?

    There is a bunch of crap posted...they are not expensive because they are trying to save our lives by charging us a lot money, they are expensive because they know they can get away with charging us a lot of money for speeding.

    Also for the genius saying doing 30 over the limit and getting a $5 fine- that is unreasonable. Nobody here is saying tickets should be damn near nothing. If tickets were reasonably charged and not overly charged they would deter the same amount of people from speeding. Instead the high price today just makes many people broke. Also stop it with saying "you can't put a price on life"...it's true you can't - but they damn sure try!

    To the other genius calling speeders criminals...everyone speeds, even cops when they are just patrolling around town. There is no denying that everyone has broken the speed limit so no reason to call anyone here a criminal.
