How much is a space satellite worth?

    This depends on several variables including the type of satellite, launch costs and its application. Needless to say they cost LOTS :)

    According to howstuffworks.com a hurricane watch satellite cost $290 million and a missile-warning satellite cost $682 million.

    Also according to howstuffworks.com .. a launch can cost anywhere between $50 million and $400 million.

    Im pretty sure their figures where from 1999 - Your guess is as good as mine if prices go up or down on these sorts of things :P
