How do you get a 4 year old dog to stop barking at everyone and everything with out a shock collar or hitting

At four years old it is very difficult to change a dogs behaviour. If you cannot do it yourself with normal training methods you need to take the animal to a dog psychologist

It is unfair to both you and the dog to allow this situation to continue.
