Why do people persist in the misconception that poor people eat pet food from cans, which can be expensive, when human food in cans can be cheaper?

    I think we proved the point that little old ladies don't eat cat food because we didn't see lots of little old ladies die during the recent pet food poisioning calamity...if the hospitals were full of poisioned little old ladies then may be you have something...but this didn't happen.

    • Well, where I come from Pet food is not cheap...baked beans and tinned spaghetti are cheaper, tinned soups and packet soups are cheaper....

    • Empress, you may not be in a situation where you go looking for the cheap pet food in your area. Poor people with pets do go looking for the cheap pet food, and they may make a discovery in some warehouse store that the pet food they are buying has just as much protein in it as the more expensive canned meat products sold for humans.

      Necessity causes all kinds of strange things, and it also forces people to have to look harder for cheaper products that may not be immediately obvious to people who don't need to buy that cheaply yet.
