Will filing for an assumption get my name off a home mortgage.

    So far as I know, the only way to get your name off the mortgage is to get your name of the deed or title to the proeprty. That is, you give up any ownership. The mortgage company won't agree to this unless the other owner or owners are sufficiently creditworthy without you.
