Help answer this question below.

Why did my brother turn atheist? And is there anything that will change his mind?

    I'm sure you probably have a better idea about it than anyone here who doesn't know your brother personally. Lots of things can drive people to atheism, one cause could be despair at a death of someone close, making them question the existence of God.

    I am an atheist although I think the idea of a God and heaven is appealing, I find it impossible to believe in such a thing. Its possible that your brother has matured mentally to a stage where he no longer wants to blindly believe in something without any physical evidence.

    It is a possibility that you could change his mind but enforcing your beliefs on him may drive him further into atheism.

    Personally I don't think you should try to influence other peoples beliefs but in this case it appears you want to. Explaining why you believe in God and gently guiding someone in every day situations, making references could change his mind but I should think you'll find it very difficult.

    • If this "professor" told him about other theories such as evolution and the big bang maybe he decided these were more feasible than stories from the Bible and thus became an atheist.

    • It obviously wasn't a sudden decision if his professor "opened his eyes". He just hasn't shared the process with you. If you are open to him maybe he will. Approach him without being judgmental.

    • I turned aethist after I realized that history pretty much disproves Religion.....I wish my brother would finally see the light..or the darkness.which ever you prefer

    • How do you know the proffesor didn't slip him some magic learning fruit? That's been known to "open people's eyes" without taking too long. Reports of lethality are greatly exaggerated though.
