What is the stupidest / funniest thing that you have ever said without thinking?

    I was once waiting tables at a seafood resteraunt. There was a storm on the Atlantic Ocean which had disrupted our supply of halibut. My chef had informed us of this the night before and that we would be out of halibut for lunch the next day.

    The next day a customer ordered halibut and I forgot we were out. When I came back to the kitchen I remembered that we were out but not why. I went out to the table, it was a 10 top of very smart business men, and told the guy we were out of halibut. When he asked why, I don't know what took over me but I told him, "They are all dying in the ocean." As well as being smart, these people were also very nice, so although I got the "look" someone said - oh thats too bad.

    My chef and co-workers never let me forget about that moment of idiocy.
